The initial idea was to manually create a random pixel image.

I decided to take an old 500 pieces puzzle and spray one half black and the other white. For the second painting I generated random shades of grey through a spraypainted gradient and the third one randomises gradient orientations.

Generative Painting 1, 2020
500 pieces, 250 black, 250 white

Generative Painting 2, 2020
104 pieces, black and white gradient

Generative Painting 3, 2020
60 pieces, black and white gradient

The first painting turned out to be quite torturous to solve. I ended up doing it upside down in order to see the cut edges correctly and not be distracted by the black and white pieces.
